WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - If you’re seeing more moths than usual around your home, you’re far from alone. The big question is why this is happening.

Experts explain that the reason moth populations seem to be thriving more than we’re used to seeing is due to the weather conditions Kansas had this summer.

“I think this year has been a mild summer with a lot of rain, so it’s just been very good conditions for them to flourish,” said Entomologist Technical Director Ryan Cocking with Patton Termite and Pest Control, in Wichita.

Experts say that the lifespan of the moths we’re seeing can be 15 to 30 days, they’re mostly harmless and that the moths will be gone once colder weather enters our region.
