Huntsville Utilities has announced that it will not enforce late fees or disconnect customers for the remainder of the ongoing government shutdown, now in its 17th day.

Leadership within the utility said it's making the changes to accommodate potential financial hardships families may face during the uncertain time.

"Many of our customers are directly or indirectly affected by this government shutdown, and we want to give them one less thing to worry about during this uncertain time," said Wes Kelley, President & CEO of Huntsville Utilities.

"Our priority is to support this community and ensure uninterrupted service while people focus on their families and essential needs."

HU will work with customers on payment arrangements once normal government operations resume.
