State Sen. Tim Melson (R-Florence) is officially running for re-election to the state legislature in 2026.
In a Thursday press release, the lawmaker announced his candidacy for District 1, pledging to continue advocating for its residents.
"I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished, but there’s more work to do, especially with President Trump’s recent announcement that Space Command is coming to North Alabama," said Melson.
First elected to the Senate in 2014, Melson says he is running once again because of his love for the state and his "belief in the people of North Alabama."
