DU QUOIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- The City of Du Quoin issued a boil order Thursday night.

The order affects South Line Street from Main to Poplar and East Main Street from Line to Ballentine. The city advised residents to boil water until further notice.

The CDC recommends bringing water to a full rolling boil for one minute, or three minutes at elevations above 6,500 feet. Then allow the water to cool before using it.

When washing hands with tap water during a boil water order, it's recommended to use soap and water, then using alcohol-based hand sanitizer and let them air dry.
