KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas announced on Thursday that the terminal at the Kansas City International Airport (MCI) has officially been designated as the "Harry S. Truman Terminal," in honor of the 33rd President of the United States and metro native.
The naming of the terminal was sponsored by Lucas and Councilmember Nathan Willett to recognize the former president's impact as a local leader in Kansas City, as well as a leader around the world.
The terminal will also feature a new statue of Truman, identical to the statue located at the U.S. Capitol Rotunda. Both the installation and creation process will be made possible by the $150,000 District One Public Improvements Advisory Committee funds.
