A convicted murderer has confessed to killing his pregnant girlfriend by stabbing her 19 times after he was released from jail on licence.

'Lifer' Shaine March attacked Alana Odysseos at her home in Walthamstow, east London, early last July 22.

She was in the early stages of pregnancy with her third child at the time.

March, 47, of Surrey Quays, south-east London, previously admitted manslaughter by diminished responsibility but denied murder.

But he dramatically changed his plea and admitted murdering his 32-year-old victim on Friday, October 17.

The plea change came after it emerged in legal argument that a defence expert report due to be heard during his trial no longer supported his diminished responsibility claim.

Mr Justice Murray discharged the jury at the Old Bail
