NORTH PLATTE, Neb. ( KNOP /Gray News) - The Gering Police Department and multiple other agencies continue to investigate skeletal remains located on the Scotts Bluff National Monument property.

Authorities said human skeletal remains and other belongings were confirmed to be found at the site after someone walking along the north side of the monument discovered what appeared to be human bones.

Officers confirmed the remains appeared to be human.

Scotts Bluff County Attorney’s Office said Thursday that family members of a missing Wyoming man, Chance Englebert, who was last seen alive in 2019, confirmed that some of the belongings found were his.

An investigation into Englebert’s disappearance has been active and ongoing since he went missing on July 6, 2019.
