CARBONDALE, Ill. (KFVS) - A man was arrested in connection with a robbery investigation in Carbondale.

James L. Eakes, 57, of Jonesboro, was arrested for robbery and taken to the Jackson County Jail.

According to Carbondale police, officers responded to the 1300 block of East Main Street around 6:33 p.m. on Thursday, October 16 for a reported robbery.

Officers learned the victim was sleeping near a business when the suspect allegedly attacked the victim, stole their property and then ran away.

The suspect was later identified as Eakes. Officers found him in the area and arrested him.

Police say the victim received a minor injury from the attack, but declined medical treatment.
