Jordan Haynes believes in the power of ale.

He’s also just excited to be doing something he loves.

The 35-year-old former software developer traded code for cans when he opened the End Times Bar and Beer Shop on York Street in Stratford.

“I’m a lot happier doing this . . . (and) I’ve really got something I’m happy to do for a long time,” he said.

It’s not the career path he once envisioned. Until he was 25, the only beers Haynes tried were from big breweries, and he didn’t like them. It wasn’t until he sipped from a craft beer he bought in Toronto a decade ago that Haynes realized there was a world beyond the traditional brews.

“I genuinely liked the taste of it,” he said, “and that’s why I started to try other stuff.”
