LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) - A Nebraska Grand Jury has determined that there was no criminal conduct in relation to an in-custody death in June.

In June of 2025, Ashland Police went to the scene of a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of Highway 6 and Highway 63, southwest of Ashland.

Once on the scene, police found the driver outside the vehicle. The driver then died by suicide at the scene.

Per Nebraska law, a grand jury convened to investigate the in-custody death.

After hearing evidence on October 17, the grand jury returned a “no true bill” after reviewing the evidence, meaning that there was no criminal conduct in relation to the driver’s death.
