The Montgomery Police Department has charged a 21-year-old suspect in connection with a recent mass shooting. The shooting happened Oct. 4 and led to the deaths of Shalanda Williams, 43, and Jeremiah Morris, 17, and injured 12 others.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire near Bibb Street and Commerce Street around 11:31 p.m. They found Morris deceased at the scene from gunshot wounds, while other victims, including Williams, were taken to hospitals. Williams later died from her injuries.
Kemontae Hood has been charged with one count of capital murder, nine counts of first-degree assault, and three counts of second-degree assault. Hood was arrested on October 17 and is in custody at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
