MINNEAPOLIS — Of the five candidates on stage in recent mayoral debates, Jazz Hampton is the only one born and raised in the city of Minneapolis.
"I've lived within a few miles of my current house in South Minneapolis for my entire life," Hampton said in an interview with KARE 11 on Friday. "I've seen the potential of our city and want to see us living up to our potential."
However, unlike Mayor Jacob Frey and State Sen. Omar Fateh, Hampton doesn't hold elected office, and unlike former Capitol Hill staffer Rev. DeWayne Davis, he doesn't have the same level of public policy experience.
