Some much-needed rainfall is on the way this weekend, but it comes with a quick cooldown and a gusty start to next week.
Scattered showers and thunderstorms slide through the area early Saturday morning ahead of a cold front gradually sagging southeastward through the area during the day. One big change to the forecast is to lessen rain chances in the late morning and afternoon hours as we enter a lull between waves.
Our second wave comes in the form of windy rain with embedded thunderstorms, likely coming in after dark and lasting through Sunday morning. Widespread soaking rain is expected to gradually shift eastward, leaving us dry and sunny by late afternoon.
When all is said and done, at least a half-inch of rain is a decent bet for most of the area, with localized areas seeing 1"+
