COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - NOAA released its outlook for the 2025-26 winter season on Thursday.

The outlook accounts for what is considered usual for a specific region and predicts what areas are most likely to see above-normal or below-normal ranges regarding temperatures and precipitation.

The seasonal outlook is for the meteorological, not astronomical, winter season. The meteorological season is December 1st through the month of February.

The seasonal outlook shows the southern half of the U.S. is forecast to have above-normal temperatures while below-normal temperatures can be anticipated for the Northern Plains into the Upper Midwest.
