REDDING, Calif. - The Shasta County District Attorney's Office announced Friday that Joshua Rocha has been sentenced to 50 year to life, plus 30 years in state prison

Rocha entered an open plea to five felony charges, including two counts of arson of property of another, attempt to burn, first-degree residential burglary, and possession of flammable material. This marked Rocha's third strike offense.

Prior to the sentencing, Rocha requested the court to dismiss two of his prior strike offenses. He sought probation with treatment for substance abuse and mental health issues instead of a prison sentence.

The court denied his request, noting Rocha's unsuccessful attempts at drug treatment programs and previous probation and community supervision failures.
