LARIMER COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - Two people were killed after two vehicles crashed and caught fire on Highway 287 Friday night, according to Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

CSP said troopers responded to a crash between a 2018 Honda Accord and a 1987 Chevrolet Suburban around 6:18 p.m. on Highway 287 at Red Mountain Road in Larimer County.

State Patrol said the Suburban was driving south on the highway when the Honda, heading north, had swerved into the oncoming lane. CSP said the driver of the Suburban had attempted to avoid the crash and struck a guardrail before being hit head-on by the Honda.

Troopers said both vehicles burst into flames, and both drivers were trapped inside their cars.

Both drivers reportedly died on scene.
