FORT PAYNE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Fort Payne Wildcats secured their second straight region championship in a 38-12 win over Hazel Green Friday night.

Fort Payne advances to 7-1 on the year with the win and remains unbeaten in the region.

Coach Chris Elmore says that people might not have thought his program had the guys in the locker room to go back-to-back heading into the year, but the coaching staff knew, and his team bought in.

"We knew we had the guys in the locker room, the coaches, that we were capable of doing it," Elmore said. "Proud of being able to watch those guys improve week by week."

Fort Payne will finish out region play when they travel to Huntsville to take on the winless Lee Generals. They will wrap up their regular season against Pelham in Fort Payne.
