NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Metro Nashville Police Department is investigating the deadly shooting involving a pedicab driver and one of his passengers outside Bridgestone Arena early Saturday morning.

Officers responded to the BetMGM Sports Lounge at Bridgestone Arena on Rep. John Lewis Way around 2:30 a.m. and found 23-year-old Adrian Rivas-Romo suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died.

The officers detained Romo’s pedicab operator, 21-year-old Christopher Jones, who admitted to shooting Romo, but claimed it was in self-defense. The officers seized the pistol he used as evidence, according to MNPD’s report.
