HOOVER, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Officers of the Hoover Police Department are raising awareness for breast cancer this October, but it’s not just the two-legged officers.
The Hoover Police Department’s K-9s, also referred to as their four-legged officers, are sporting the same pink badge as their handlers.
According to Hoover Police, they were one of the first departments in the nation to wear pink badges for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
They were also the first department with their badge manufacturer, Smith & Warren Badges, to utilize pink badges.
Hoover Police shared they are proudly wearing their pink badges in October to raise awareness for breast cancer, a disease which impacts so many families.
