OSAWATOMIE, Kan. (KCTV) - An intensive search is underway for a man who led investigators on a chase, crashed a Jeep into a pond and disappeared before he could be tracked down.
The Miami County, Kansas, Sheriff’s Office says that just after 9:20 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, deputies tried to stop the driver of a green Jeep Grand Cherokee. The vehicle did not have a tag displayed.

However, law enforcement officials noted that the driver, later identified as Philip R. Gardner Jr., 38, refused to stop.
A chase was initiated before the Jeep entered a driveway near Osawatomie and W. 327th St. Gardner continued through the yard, broke a fence and continued into a tall grass field.
