PORTLAND, Ore. — Ten years after her son was killed in downtown Portland, Taunya Mayo says she is "broken inside" and still seeking justice for Dion Matthews Jr.
Matthews, 23, died from a gunshot wound in a parking lot near Dante's Nightclub at Southwest Third Avenue and West Burnside Street on Oct. 18, 2015. He had just left a concert, and Mayo said the people he was with scattered and did not call paramedics. Witnesses told police they saw people running and vehicles speeding away after the shooting.
"For 10 long years, I've pleaded for someone to come forward with information about my son's homicide," Mayo said. "I have faith and I have hope, and I believe and I trust."
