BATH TOWNSHIP, Ohio – The Interstate 77 rest areas just north of Ira Road in Summit County will be closed through late November 2026 for a major reconstruction featuring fresh designs.

These rest areas, which were closed beginning on Tuesday, were built in 1986.

The Ohio Department of Transportation said travelers can expect lodge-style rest areas with high ceilings, rocking chairs, and covered picnic tables when the project is complete.

Plans also call for indoor vending, landscaping with native plants, a storybook trail for families, a pet walk, and music featuring Ohio artists. Visitors will also find new tourism displays highlighting destinations across Northeast Ohio.
