PM Modi has set a target to achieve 100 gigawatts of nuclear power capacity by 2047, which is currently 8.8 gigawatts.

India is developing small-sized nuclear power reactors of 200 MW, which will be able to power commercial ships, PTI reported on Sunday, citing sources.

An official associated with the matter said that this reactor can be installed anywhere, even on a ship. These reactors generate heat, which produces electricity.

The official stated that scientists at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) are developing two nuclear reactors of 55 MW and 200 MW. These can also be installed in captive power plants of high energy-consuming companies like cement factories.
