Representatives from Ladakh will hold talks with the central government on October 22 in New Delhi. A deadlock had persisted since the violence in Leh on September 24. Prior to this, talks were held in May.

Chering Dorje Lakruk, co-chairman of the Leh Apex Body (LAB), stated that the talks would be with a sub-committee of the Union Home Ministry.

The meeting will include three representatives each from LAB and the Kargil Democratic Alliance (KDA), Ladakh MP Mohammad Haneefa Jan, and their lawyer. The main agenda of the talks will be the demand for statehood and protection under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution.
