Tulsa’s Oktoberfest helps honor and celebrate German culture in Oklahoma. But for people like Ric Kotarsky, it’s about more than that. It’s about building the community.

Kotarsky started as a volunteer in 2000 and worked his way up to the leader of the beverage team.

"We have lots of breweries, lots of distributors," said Kotarsky. "It's a lot. The process is basically everything from front to back of house. So everything from trucks that are holding the beer, to the beer lines, to the beer walls and the taps to the pouring of the beer. To the point of sale system, the volunteers, the people who are in power to manage the beer tents individually and all the, and all the processes, even after the customer gets the beer to make sure that they're having a great experience."
