CHARLESTON — A historic chapel-turned-commercial building in the heart of downtown’s tourism hub has sold for $13.65 million after two years on the market.
The sale is the first time in decades that 32 Market St., owned by the Burbage family since 1974, has been sold on the open market. Listing agent Buddy Bebergal with Premier Properties of Charleston said while there has been interest, several previous offers weren’t “good enough.”
The property, located at the corner of East Bay and Market streets, was first listed in August 2023 for $15.5 million by Bryon Burbage and has gone through some price cuts over time. The owner inherited the property from his late father, Wilbur Burbage.
A buyer out of Florida finally closed on the deal Oct. 9, said Bebergal, who co-listed the property w
