A Massachusetts man was killed early Sunday after he lost control of his car while speeding on Interstate 93 in New Hampshire, authorities said.
Before the crash, New Hampshire State Police said the driver had reached speeds of 120 mph as he traveled erratically down the highway.
State troopers had attempted to pull the vehicle over, but were unable to do so before the driver steered toward an exit, where he lost control, sending the car off the highway and into a tree, the state police said in a statement.
The agency identified the driver as Benjamin Tapia Gately, 20, of Saugus, Mass.
A pursuit began after Tapia Gately failed to stop for a state trooper when he was spotted speeding around 12:50 a.m. on I-93 northbound near Exit 12.
