CANTERBURY, N.H. —
A man from Massachusetts was killed in a crash on I-93 after a high-speed police pursuit early Sunday morning.
New Hampshire State Police say a trooper tried to stop a blue Honda Civic for speeding in Canterbury near exit 12 on the northbound side of the highway.
Troopers said the vehicle was going as fast as 120 miles per hour at times, and driving erratically.
Troopers said the Honda tried to get off the highway at exit 18, but lost control on the off-ramp. Then the car went down an embankment and hit a tree.
The driver was identified as 20-year-old Benjamin Tapia Gately from Saugus, Massachusetts.
Troopers said Gately was thrown from the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No one else was in the car.
