Despite Florida football's win over Mississippi State on Saturday, Oct. 18, it felt like the end for Billy Napier with the Gators.

Those vibes proved right, as Florida made the move and fired Napier midway through his fourth season with the program on Sunday, Oct. 19, the school announced.

"As Coach Napier has often said, this is a results-driven business, and while his influence was positive, it ultimately did not translate into the level of success we expect on the field," Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin said in a statement.

Napier ends his Florida tenure with a 22-23 record and a 1-1 record in bowl games. The move comes before an off week for Florida, giving the school time to figure out its coaching staff and plan for the rest of the season before facing Georgia on
