A total of 81 motorists have been told to expect a letter from police after they all committed a driving offence after a crash on the M60 .
According to Greater Manchester Police , a number of drivers decided to use the hard shoulder to skip the queues as officers began to close the carriageway.
The incident occurred as officers dealt with an incident between junction 17 and 16 last week. Police say that the drivers prevented other emergency service vehicles from attending the scene.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Last week GMP Traffic were dealing with a RTC on the M60 17-16.
