CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - Two women are dead, and one woman is behind bars following a deadly house fire in Chesterfield.

On Saturday, at 4:20 a.m., Chesterfield Fire and EMS responded to a residence in the 500 block of Rosegill Road, near Reams Road.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw heavy fire coming from the outside of the home and requested extra assistance to respond.

Two adults, 75-year-old Evelyn Newman and 78-year-old Hazel Johnson, both residents and sisters, were rescued from the burning home. They were transported to a hospital where they later died from their injuries.

Following a thorough investigation, authorities determined the fire was intentionally set. Police arrested 25-year-old Alicia Newman.
