EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a driver was ejected from a vehicle in a fatal single-vehicle crash.
According to the sheriff’s office, a Ford Mustang was traveling east on Kolic Helmey Road at a high speed just after midnight Sunday.
The driver of the Mustang was identified as 26-year-old Victory Lewis Mason, of Port Wentworth.
Mason failed to stop at a stop sign, got off the roadway, and hit multiple buildings in a residential area, according to the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office.
Mason was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene from his injuries.
Law enforcement says preliminary information indicates that speed and alcohol consumption were contributing factors in this fatal crash.
