ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Albuquerque residents are playing softball to 'strikeout' cancer. At the 6th Annual Strikeout Cancer Tournament, 74 teams participated in the two-day tournament.

Sunday at Los Altos Park, the regional umpire in chief said, just because it's a fundraiser, it doesn't mean participants don't play hard. "Even though it's a fundraiser, people still need medication out here sometimes. It gets aggressive. Some of the women, though, they hit better than the men. It's quite fun to see that, but the camaraderie with the teams and the men and the women, it's just out the roof and it's awesome," said Troy Hammond, regional UIC with World Sports League Softball.
