Not to be confused with The French Laundry fine dining establishment, the San Francisco 49ers have a laundry list of injuries that is far more expensive.
Most recently, the Niners lost Fred Warner in Week 6 after already losing Nick Bosa earlier in the season. Arguably, none are more impactful than Brock Purdy, who has played in just two games this season after suffering a toe injury.
The quarterback was banged up in Week 1 with toe and shoulder injuries, with the former being aggravated in Week 4. He appeared to have a chance to return in Week 7, but Purdy was ruled out ahead of "Sunday Night Football."
That means it's still Mac Jones' offense for now, but questions remain about Purdy's future.
Here's the latest on when the quarterback could return.
When will Brock Purdy return?
It's unclear when Purdy will return.
However, better days may be on the horizon for the quarterback. Purdy returned to practice ahead of Week 7, logging limited sessions before being ruled out for "Sunday Night Football."
Practice availability can sometimes serve as guidance, meaning the expectation is that Purdy will continue to practice ahead of Week 8. It's unknown how much will be enough to get the Niners starter back to game action.
In the meantime, Jones continues to fill admirably for San Francisco, leading the team to a 3-1 record in four starts.
49ers QB depth chart
- Brock Purdy (injured)
- Mac Jones
- Adrian Martinez
Jones has been a primary reason why the 49ers have been able to stay afloat following the injury to Purdy. The former New England Patriots quarterback is battling knee and oblique injuries in Week 7, but continues to fight through the issues.
If something were to happen to Jones, the former United Football League MVP Martinez would be forced into action.
