SOUTH BEND – There might be better players in college football than Jeremiyah Love.

You would be hard-pressed to name them.

The Notre Dame running back turned in the best performance of his becoming-legendary career and one of the best efforts by any running back across the country this year to lead No. 13 Notre Dame to a 34-24 victory over No. 20 Southern California at Notre Dame Stadium in a driving rain Saturday night.

The junior tailback ran 24 times for a career-high 228 yards and also caught five passes for 37 yards. In his two games as the starting running back against USC, he has gained 337 rushing yards on 8.8 yards per carry.

Love's 228 rushing yards are a Notre Dame Stadium record for an Irish player and the most for anyone in a Notre Dame-USC game since 1979.
