Bruce Springsteen closed out the fifth annual Academy Museum Gala with a special performance after receiving a Legacy Award from director Martin Scorsese on Saturday night, helping raise over $12 million to support the museum, officials said Sunday.
The subject of the new big-screen biopic “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” starring gala attendee Jeremy Allen White, was one of four artists honored at the gala. Famed director Wim Wenders presented Brazilian director Walter Salles with the Luminary Award. Actress Zoe Saldaña presented the Icon Award to actress Penélope Cruz. And Bowen Yang took the night off from his regular gig on “Saturday Night Live” to receive the Vantage Award, which honors an “emerging artist or scholar who is helping to contextualize and challenge dominant nar
