BAXTER, Tenn. (WSMV) - A mother and her son are dead, and another person was injured in a shooting in DeKalb County, according to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

TBI reports that the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 800 block of Vickers Ridge Road around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday for reports of a shooting.

According to preliminary investigation, an altercation happened near the road between three people before the shooting.

Karen Carter, 68, and her son Ceil Martindale, 29, were killed in the shooting. One other person was injured in the shooting and was airlifted to an area hospital.
