An Australian man was left “seething” when he went to book a return Qantas flight from Sydney to Melbourne - only to find the airfare jumped by more than $300 when he changed his payment method.
Bailey Macklinshaw was preparing to book a flight last week when he noticed a discrepancy after he logged into his Qantas account.
The Sydney man said the tickets were first listed for $618 - but jumped to $942 as soon as he logged into his Frequent Flyer account.
“I’m seething,” Mr Macklinshaw said on TikTok as he explained what happened.
“Someone just replied to me saying this is what Qantas do with the algorithm … so I tried on Jordan’s phone and my normal flights just came up.
“So, these ones for $600 return … same flights $940 and something.
“Riddle me that.”
