On Monday, a murder trial is once again set to begin for Trevor McEuen, the Kaufman County man accused of killing his neighbor in 2023 – and then cutting his ankle monitor and going on the run for nearly a month earlier this year.

Ahead of a return to the courtroom, the family of his alleged victim and McEuen’s attorneys are sharing their expectations for the trial.

At their ranch in Seagoville, the Martinez family was in their normal weekend routine on Sunday, riding horses and grilling out.

But for the last two years, they said someone has been missing from this ritual.

“He loved horses,” said Salvador Martinez, father of Aaron Martinez. “Enjoyed being with family.”
