PHOENIX — A man is dead after a shooting in west Phoenix, the city's police department said.

Phoenix police officers responded to a shots-fired call on Sunday afternoon in the area of 23rd Avenue and Buckeye Road, near Saddle Horn Bar. When officers got to the scene, they found a person who was dead.

Police did not say whether the man suffered gunshot wounds or what his manner of death was.

The suspect left the area before officers got there, police said.

"Facts leading up to what happened are all part of the investigation," police told 12News.
