EDDY COUNTY, N.M. —
New Mexico State Police is currently investigating a deputy shooting that occurred in Eddy County involving the Eddy County Sheriff's Office.
According to deputies, on Oct. 19, they responded to a location near the intersection of McKittrick Road and Hidalgo Road in reference to a report of an adult male who was threatening the reporting party while armed with a rifle.
Upon arriving to the scene, deputies advise that an Eddy County Sheriff's Office deputy was involved in the shooting incident.
They say there are believed to be no suspects at large, and there is no known threat to the public.
They encourage anyone in the public who has any information to contact the NMSP Investigations Bureau.
