DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - Over 100 concerned community members met in Solway’s town hall to make a plan to stand against the Hermantown data center in their City Council Meeting on Monday.
One of the main issues that has left the community scratching their heads from day one is the lack of information. All they’re being told is that the project was proposed by a mystery Fortune 50 company.
Now, they’re working on creating petitions and continually speaking out against the data center, which was only made public in September.
Volunteers contributed their own money toward making signs and fliers. They also collaborated on research into city council documents and the effects of current data centers in the U.S., all in preparation for Monday’s meeting.
