The United States Geological Survey is reporting a magnitude 3.0 earthquake struck around 8:46 p.m. on Sunday, roughly 3 km north-northwest of Lively.
“The quake originated at a depth of about 10 km, which is considered relatively shallow,” the United States Geological Survey said. “While earthquakes of this magnitude are typically minor, they can still be felt locally, especially by those close to the epicentre.”

It’s possible the seismic activity was caused by activities at the nearby Creighton Mine operated by Vale. Blasting at mines in Greater Sudbury is often felt throughout the community, as are rockbursts.
A magnitude 3.0 earthquake means it is a minor event that is often felt by people but causes no damage.
