India's top leadership joined the country's Diwali celebrations on Monday, expressing warm greetings and highlighting values of compassion, self-reliance, and unity as diyas (lights). President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Vice-President CP Radhakrishnan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and other national officials greeted the country warmly as Diwali celebrations got underway.

"On the auspicious occasion of Diwali , I extend my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all Indians, both in India and across the world," President Murmu wrote in a message posted on X.

She called the celebration a representation of the “triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil,” and she urged people to take advantage of the opportunity to reflect
