FARGO — A pipeline project that will bring water from central North Dakota to the Red River Valley is 20% complete.
Crews have finished 27 miles of the 125-mile Red River Valley Water Supply Project after construction started in 2021, Garrison Diversion Conservancy District General Manager Duane DeKrey told The Forum. The project is on track to make its 2032 deadline, he said.
“I think it’s going pretty good,” he said of the project’s progress. “We still think we are on a 10-year build track.”
The $1.1 billion project will have water flowing from the Missouri River through the pipeline along State Highway 200 to the Sheyenne River at Cooperstown, about 65 miles northeast of Jamestown. The Sheyenne feeds into the Red River north of Fargo.
During phase one, engineers will use the McClu
