BERKELEY COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – A second person has died several weeks after a Moncks Corner home collapsed.

Berkeley County Coroner Darnell Hartwell said his office was notified on Sunday about a second death associated with the Sept. 25 collapse of a home on Rufus Lane.

That person was identified as 67-year-old Deborah Nelson from New York.

Another victim, 65-year-old Sandra Tillman of New York, previously died from injuries and complications connected to the house collapse.

Multiple agencies responded to a home off Rufus Lane in Moncks Corner just before 8 a.m. on Sept. 25 and found the structure had collapsed with two people trapped under the debris.

Both victims were extricated from the rubble and were taken to area hospitals. A reason for the collapse has not been provided.
