The Academy Museum Gala is one of the biggest non-awards nights of the year in Los Angeles, but not necessarily one I had associated with zany couture moments. If it were, say, the Met Gala, and/or if anyone else were in the dress, I might wonder if this Maison Margiela represented some kind of artistic statement or sociopolitical commentary. Perhaps on the woman-as-clotheshanger, or the erasure of identities. But alas, Kim didn’t go that deep : “It does look very Skims-y,” Kardashian said, referring to her underwear line. “That’s why I was drawn to it when the Margiela couture show came out. I saw this look and I was like, ‘That is so Skims to me.’” It’s also one of the most boring outfits from the entire collection , so she really must have been committed to becoming human hosie
