A Massachusetts woman recently hurt her ankle and had to be rescued while hiking on Hedgehog Mountain on the UNH Trail in New Hampshire’s White Mountain National Forest.
Jennifer Schanke, 39, of Chelmsford, was injured Saturday, Oct. 18, according to the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department.
The department was notified of the injury at 1:50 p.m. Saturday. The hiker’s companion, who was not named by the department, traveled down Route 112 by car until they could find cell phone service. Once they managed to find service, they called 911, the Fish and Game Department wrote in a press release.
Fish and Game conservation officers and members of the Lakes Region Search and Rescue (LRSAR) Team responded to the call. The officials arrived at Schanke’s location at 4:05 p.m. Schanke was unable
