It’s no secret that Canada is in an era of incredibly high deficit spending, with the interim Parliamentary Budget Officer recently telling a House of Commons committee that the current rate of federal debt accumulation is “stupefying” and “shocking.” And, just like other periods of high deficit spending, this one is yielding plenty of white elephants, boondoggles and spending scandals.
