WHITE PLAINS – A New Rochelle man has been sentenced to one year in the Westchester County Jail for killing and dismembering an English bulldog neared Bruno.
District Attorney Susan Cacace said Benjamin Tyler, 40, previously pled guilty to the felony of aggravated cruelty to animals.
On December 6, 2024, Tyler strangled Bruno to death at the New Rochelle residence of Bruno’s guardian, a longtime acquaintance of Tyler with whom he was staying.
He then dismembered the body and scattered various pieces of his carcass around New Rochelle.
Cacace said Tyler “will have a year in jail to think about his despicable actions.” She said cruelty to animals in “unacceptable.”
The investigation was conducted by New Rochelle Police with assistance from the SPCA of Westchester.
